Student Academic InterestsDo you have academic interests that you do not follow on a regular basis? Are you interested in continuing to excel at what you are doing at school? Then, take a few minutes and review the academic interests of your student.Do you notice that some of your students have the same interest in certain subjects or are completely new to them? Some students have the same interest as their mom and dad but then you have some who are so deep into their studies that they are only interested in studying and the rest don't care. When you think about it, this is a concern and may even make you worry for your own academic interests. By being familiar with the academic interests of your student, you can be able to better match your teaching to their academic interests.Students have interests that run from music, literature, art, drama, sports, religion, etc. They have different needs, too. That is why, you should look into their interests to see what they are interested in doing outside of school.Have you noticed that one of your students has a love for performing arts and taking part in talent shows? Or, has one of your students spent a lot of time studying sports? Then, you need to consider coaching that person in a sports-related subject as it can help him/her to pursue his/her dream.When you coach a student in subjects like language, math, or English, you should consider giving more focus on the class work that comes in front of the student. If a student can play his/her instrument well in front of the class, then they will likely enjoy their studies in class. If you can show them that they are having fun in class, then they are much more likely to participate in class discussions.Another great example of having an academic interest that you can introduce is to encourage your students to go on reading tours. These tours can range from a year-long tour to a weekend/weekend/short term vacation tour. This will also encourage your students to remember what is being taught to them. As a teacher, your students can relate better to you will also feel a sense of fulfillment for your efforts.
